To better understand how much Jordan can offer for the hiker or the climber, it is useful to know a little bit about the geological formation of the country. The largest and most interesting part of this geology for these sports is the Jordan Rift Valley, a gorge up to a kilometer deep that spans the whole length of the country.

The eastern side of this gorge starts at around 400 meters below sea level, making it the lowest elevation in the world. Gradually, it climbs eastward over valleys and mountains, over cliffs and drop-offs to majestic mountains which rise to over 1600 meters above the sea. The rift valley is a climbers paradise.
It includes cliffs of sandstone and limestone, granite and slate. If you want to climb or hike in Jordan, Discovery will deliver.

Training can be offered to climbers with little or no experience. For the professional; however, Discovery offers different packages. Our programs can be flexible and custom designed to suit your particular demands.
